Time is just a human invention, limitation. It is just an intangible fragment of human rationality and forced logical deciphering, A Complicated web of frozen pictures we pretend to understand.

In this complex web of time & reality, no one really dies because a person's existence lies frozen in a part of the past. We all exist in some moment in time as frozen memories till something else happens.

Why do people get victimized all the time? Is it because of Bad luck? No, its because of panic, the criminals know this too because in that moment when one gets startled by death and his mind melts to goo because of said fright, one is virtually helpless to anything but one can control one's mind in order to control the world around him.
